lovely peppered steak with hard food. Hard food cooked to perfection. Peppered steak nice, slightly too sweet for me but its personal preference. It was £ 3.00 each to eat in ( I thought that charge was steep). When I mentioned this, the charge was waived and we ate in the shop using the takeaway container. I had no issue with this.
Great flavours, well presented. As I walked up Poplar Road from the High Street, I could smell something great wafting it's way through the early afternoon air. I followed my nose and ended up in Mansa Musa. I waited a brief moment and the gentleman arrived to greet me. I requested a large curry goat with rice and peas. I was offered steam veg which I happily accepted. £10 (takeout) was handed over and I took a seat while the gentleman went and warmed my food. A few minutes later my food was ready, packaged in a sectioned tray with fitted lid. This is different to normal Caribbean takeaways, where it's customary to have a polystyrene tray wrapped with metres of cling film. I would have stayed in the restaurant and eaten it there, however the sign on the wall explaining it would cost me an extra £3 to eat in, detered me from doing so. After walking to the church up the road, and finding a suitable place to sit and eat, I opened the bag and found a well presented, reasonable sized portion of curry and rice. It was hot and tasted great, as good as I've tried anywhere in Birmingham. Would I return? Yes. Will I pay an extra three quid to sit down? No thanks. Which is a shame, as I would probably have purchased a cold drink to accompany my food. Instead, I grabbed one from Poundland.
If you like authentic Jamaican food this place doesn't disappoint. Everytime i come here they are super friendly, decently priced and always super welcoming. The reggae in the background is always nice too. There are options here for everyone even vegans. Everything is made fresh and you are served in a decent time. You can smell the Jerk Chicken from outside which feels super inviting. You can dine in, take out, or have food delivered. Either way you'll be in for a good time.
I was walking down the street when I caught an amazing smell of BBQ in the air. I decided to stop and ask about it. The chicken was being prepared on a real outdoor grill, and the aroma was so incredible that I ended up buying a takeaway — even though I hadn’t planned to — and I didn’t regret it one bit. The chicken was perfectly marinated and came with a delicious sauce that absolutely made my day! My portion cost £8.50, but it was much bigger than what I’d normally eat for lunch. The place has a nice atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. 10 out of 10 — definitely recommend!
Fantastic flavourful food - I had the curry goat and it’s the best I’ve had since first eating it in Jamaica 35 years ago. I ate in. They do takeaway and Just Eat too. Definitely recommend!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Review: Excellent Customer Service and Vibes! I had a great experience at this Jamaican food shop! From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me with a warm smile and real island hospitality. They took their time to explain the menu, gave recommendations, and made sure my order was just how I wanted it. The service was quick, and everyone was friendly and respectful. You can tell they care about their customers.
Mansa Musa Authentic Jamaican Food The food here was absolutely delicious. The oxtail with rice and peas was outstanding—so flavorful I couldn’t stop eating. The jerk chicken was also great; the sauce had a slightly sweet touch, and the chicken was tender and moist. Service was friendly and efficient, and the restaurant itself is beautiful with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The menu is fully halal, which is a big plus. There’s some parking available, and while they do serve alcohol, it doesn’t take away from the overall vibe. One thing to note: there’s a £3 per person charge for dining in, which was new to me. Still, I’ll definitely be returning for both the food and the service. Highly recommended.
We had the jerk chicken with rice and peas, sexy juice, homemade ginger beer, coleslaw, pickled onions, peppers, and plantains as sides. The food was amazing! I'm not exaggerating when I say that not only is this the best Jamaican food I’ve had since moving to the UK, but it's also the best food I’ve had in any of the dozens of restaurants I've tried here. This place is seriously underrated. If you’re an islander like me, go – you won’t regret it!
